When an island is so much more than just ‘one island’. Grenada as a nation is made up of three inhabited islands – Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, but also boasts more than 10 uninhabited out-islands, a few to the south of the mainland and the rest to the north, stretching up along the Grenadine chain that is shared between Grenada and St Vincent. Come explore them with West Indies Concierge on a private Grenada boat charter!
Each island’s coastline is a combination of rocky cliffs, and hidden bays and coves, with dazzling white-sand beaches, shaded shorelines for relaxing, and beautiful interiors waiting to be explored by adventurous travellers. Tranquil bays offer excellent swimming for the whole family, and beneath the waves are some of the best snorkelling spots in the Caribbean. There are large shared charter cruises that go to some popular spots, but many secluded bays and islands are only accessible on a private Grenada boat charter.
Our favourite destinations for a private Grenada boat charter:
West Coast & Sculpture Park
For those who don’t want to venture too far, Grenada’s west coast offers beautiful calm waters with some of the island’s best beaches and coves. We’ll take you on a tour through the historic St George’s harbour and along the west coast with several stunning beaches to choose from. Our recommendations for a swim include the world-famous Grand Anse Beach, the quieter Portici Beach, or neighbouring Pink Gin Beach. If you’d like to snorkel, there are great reefs fringing BBC beach, or we’ll take you to Grenada’s famous underwater sculpture park.
Sandy Island Grenada
Just to the north of mainland Grenada is this uninhabited paradise. It’s about an hour’s journey from our base at the Grenada Yacht Club, along the west and north coast, passing towns and fishing villages along the way. Fringed by stunning white sand and a protective reef offering excellent snorkelling, it’s one of our favourite destinations for an unforgettable day trip. It’s the perfect spot for a beach BBQ, and often you’ll have the island completely to yourself.
Saline Island Grenada
A bit further north, just to the south of Carriacou, is this little-visited Robinson Crusoe island, only accessible on a private Grenada boat charter. About an hour and a half from our base, we’ll pass towns and fishing villages along the way, and stop at Isle de Rhone for breakfast. On arrival, you’ll see why it’s worth the journey – we’re often greeted by the resident green turtles as we pull into the bay. Take a walk exploring the natural mangroves, salt ponds around the 64-acre island and then cool off with a swim in the beautiful turquoise waters.
Sunset Cruise Grenada
If you’re celebrating a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary, or even want a stunning setting for a proposal, West Indies Concierge offers an intimate sunset cruise along Grenada’s west coast. Sip on champagne and take in the views as you slowly cruise through the beautiful bays and beaches. Then turn towards the open ocean to watch the sun slip beneath the horizon, often offering a stunning and colourful sunset to end another day in paradise.
